You are Important

New York is a state resided by immigrants and full of diversity. Some of these immigrants or residents happen to be undocumented people who seek to find refuge or have come into the country to live better lives. There are almost undocumented workers in every part of the world.

Undocumented workers are highly useful to our state and contribute economically more than we think. If undocumented immigrants do not have such an impact in the state, why would they still be around and not fished out. Conceivably they would all been grouped up and sent back home in due time if they were not needed in the nation and state. “Immigrants make up nearly half of New York City’s labor force but face significant challenges when it comes to accessing decent paying jobs and connecting to city-sponsored workforce development programs”. Why do they have to go through all this if they play such vital roles in our economy. In an article by Paul Lopez, he suggests, “It’s imperative that we remember…. The way to reduce the number of future undocumented immigrants starts with fixing our broken immigration system so people can come here legally” found in ‘A Bridge to Legal Status for the Undocumented Immigrants in our Communities’. If the case is that there are too many immigrants in the city, a system can be created in which the backgrounds of these immigrants can be checked as a way for them to earn their legal status. It would avoid the unnecessary and mistaken deportation of these 11 million people. We should commend our leaders in society who stand with undocumented workers. They know what is right and stand for it, so should we. We all as residents should take into consideration why these people are needed and if they would continue to impact our state and lives. Undocumented Immigrants build up our city way more than we give them account for.
